To officially get this column rolling lets take a look at one of the most important steps when it comes to creating the new you…honestly evaluating where you are now and deciding what look you want to go for as your end result.

Look at your general structure…are your shoulders wide or narrow? Waist thick or slim? Legs muscular or on the skinny side? Arms flabby or firm? Are you a little overweight or could you stand to gain weight?

All very basic questions but the answers will help you to form a picture in your mind of the body you want to build. Guys generally have wider backs and shoulders and more muscular arms.

Tip #35: Exercises to Help Build Leg Size and Strength

Have you ever seen a guy at the gym with a huge upper body and small legs? Chances are he probably skipped out on a few “leg days”.

I recommend that you train your legs on alternate your lower and upper body days. Make sure you switch up your routine to avoid hitting a plateau.

Exercise your legs just as intensely, if not more so, than your upper body so they are stable enough to properly support your upper body.  Skinny legs with massive arms can look awkward.  Try adding 10-15 extra reps when you’re exercising your legs — your legs are the base that supports the weight of your whole body with each step you take.

There are four exercises that you can do at home or in the gym to get those leg muscles popping.
